The 4-Block AI Context Framework (Free Template)
Copy this framework. Use it every time you interact with AI. Watch your output quality change overnight.
After testing 960+ AI sessions, we distilled the difference between good and bad outputs into one framework. Four blocks. Works with any AI tool. Takes 2 minutes to fill in.
Here it is.
The Framework
Block 1: Role
Tell the AI WHO it is. Not "you are helpful" but a specific expert with specific experience.
Template:
You are a [JOB TITLE] with [X] years of experience in [SPECIFIC DOMAIN]. You specialize in [NARROW EXPERTISE]. You're known for [APPROACH OR STYLE]. You [SPECIFIC BEHAVIOR THAT SHAPES OUTPUT].
Example for a marketing task:
You are a senior content strategist with 12 years of experience in B2B SaaS marketing. You specialize in long-form educational content that ranks on Google and converts readers to leads. You're known for using data to support every claim. You never use filler phrases or buzzwords.
Example for a coding task:
You are a senior TypeScript developer with 8 years of React and Next.js experience. You specialize in building production-grade applications with clean architecture. You're known for writing self-documenting code with minimal comments. You always consider edge cases and error states.
Why it works: The AI has been trained on content from millions of experts. When you specify the role precisely, it activates the right "knowledge patterns." A generic role gets generic output.
Block 2: Context
Tell the AI WHAT it needs to know about this specific situation. This is where most people fail. They assume the AI knows things it doesn't.
Template:
Context:
- Project/Company: [NAME AND BRIEF DESCRIPTION]
- Audience: [WHO WILL READ/USE THIS]
- Goal: [WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE]
- Constraints: [BUDGET, TIMELINE, TECHNICAL LIMITS, BRAND RULES]
- Background: [RELEVANT HISTORY OR DATA]
- Competition: [WHAT ALTERNATIVES EXIST]
The rule: If a human consultant would need this information to do the job well, the AI needs it too.
Block 3: Task
Tell the AI WHAT to do, specifically. Not "write a blog post" but exactly what the output should contain and accomplish.
Template:
Task:
Create a [DELIVERABLE TYPE] that:
1. [SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT 1]
2. [SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT 2]
3. [SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT 3]
4. Addresses [KEY CONCERN OR OBJECTION]
5. Includes [SPECIFIC ELEMENT: data, examples, comparisons]
6. Achieves [MEASURABLE OUTCOME]
The rule: Every numbered requirement eliminates one dimension of guesswork. More specificity equals more accuracy.
Block 4: Output Format
Tell the AI HOW to structure the response. This prevents the most common frustration: getting the right content in the wrong format.
Template:
Output format:
- Total length: [WORD COUNT OR PAGE COUNT]
- Structure: [SECTIONS, HEADERS, ORGANIZATION]
- Style: [FORMAL/CASUAL, TECHNICAL/ACCESSIBLE]
- Include: [SPECIFIC ELEMENTS: tables, code blocks, examples, CTAs]
- Exclude: [WHAT YOU DON'T WANT: jargon, disclaimers, generic intros]
